Mavis Robertson International Women's Day with Sharan Burrow

COUNT HER IN: INVEST IN WOMEN. ACCELERATE PROGRESS

While important progress has been made, women face significant obstacles to achieving equal participation in the economy. Without equal access to education, employment pathways, financial services and literacy, how can we ever hope to reach gender equality? We must ensure women and girls are given equal opportunity to build their capabilities and strengthen their capacity to learn, earn and lead.

Women in Super use our annual Mavis Robertson International Women’s Day lunches as an opportunity not only to celebrate the significant progress made for women – and by women, particularly in our industry – but also as an important landmark to stop, and recognise the considerable efforts that are still required in order to achieve true equity.

This year, we are thrilled to announce Sharan Burrow, someone who is continuously working to re-shape systems and remove barriers so that all women can realise their full potential and build better financial futures for us all.

Sharan Burrow is a global advocate for human and labour rights, and a ‘warrior for women’. She is the Former General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation from 2010-2022. Previously she was President of the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) from 2000-2010.

Sharan is well known for her international advocacy on labour standards, corporate responsibility, climate action with just transition, investment in infrastructure and the green economy, investment in the care economy, women, equality and diversity, global migration and employment making her the perfect person to speak about the pathways to greater economic inclusion for women and girls everywhere.

This event is open to all (members and non-members).
We aim for 50/50 representation at this event, so please bring your male colleagues!
