It’s been a bit of a slog at times but what a sensational end to the year. I have been privileged enough to attend a number of end of year events and I got to reconnect with many of you as well as continue to meet new people. The support for WIS and the work that you do with us continues to fill me with pride and great hope for the future.
From those interactions I have compiled quite a list of members who have indicated they would like to be more involved so, as well as our elections where Committees have vacancies in February, we are really thrilled to be introducing Women in Super Champions. Check out the article below with more information about how you can become involved in your workplace.
I want to finish off the year by thanking you all for your ongoing support, for your engagement around our policy priorities, attending our events and professional development opportunities, and being so willing to step up and ask – what can we do next?
A particular shout out to our State and Territory Committees, our Board Committees – ARC, Policy, Professional Development, and Events – and our Board. Each member a volunteer who fiercely advocates for the critical work we do together and works to uphold the purpose and values that underpin WIS and guide us in our work.
But in this, my first year in the role of CEO, I want to say a particular thank you to my team – Jes Teubert, Mandy Schultze, Ella Melican, and more recently Celine Barbera-Saulnier. These women are the beating heart of WIS. Every day they turn up to support you and to ensure the organisation continues to run and goes from strength to strength. Every day they live the values that we espouse in their work and we are truly lucky to have them in our team.
2002 – what a ride! May you all have safe and restful holiday seasons with your loved ones. We’ll see you back in 2023 to continue to fight for a fairer superannuation system to enable Australian women to retire with dignity and economic security.
